Late Pick-up Policy:
Our late pick-up policy is as follows: If a child is picked up after 5:30 PM; a fee of $1.00 per minute is assessed for the first 10 minutes, or any portion thereof; and an additional $15.00 per minute thereafter will accrue and be charged automatically to your weekly bill. Please note: After 3 late pick-ups; the child may be subject to suspension. If late pick-ups continue we may proceed with disenrollment from program. Although we understand emergencies arise; we expect parents to respect the hours of operation and the staff members' time. It is important to contact our site phone (608-279-9105) immediately if you know you will be late.
Behavior Management Policy:
At afterschool club, we strive to provide a safe environment, both physically and emotionally, for everyone in program. Monona Parks & Recreation emphasizes respect within all aspects of our programs. We will be pro-active in teaching, modeling, and reinforcing respect with challenging behaviors.
If you choose to send your child here, you are putting your trust in our protocols and practices for responding to challenging situations in an effort to help each child grow individually as well as keeping camp a positive experience for the rest of the participants. Most of the time a child just needs a reminder or a gentle redirection. Should the child persist with behavior that is unsafe, dishonest, uncooperative, or disruptive, he or she may be removed from the group and given the opportunity to talk things over with the Coordinator.
We do our best to listen to the child's needs and feelings when discipline issues arise. We do not, however, have the resources to work with children one-on-one for extended periods of time (30+mins, unless an accommodation is requested). Depending on the situation, the following steps will be taken:
1. A plan with specific strategies will be developed with the child and staff, and parents will be notified.
2. If the behavior is serious or becomes a consistent issue, the Coordinator will suspend the child and hold a parent conference. The child may be suspended from program for an amount of time to be determined by the Coordinator.
3. Repeated instances of problem behavior will be grounds for expulsion from program. There are no refunds available for children who are either suspended or expelled from our programs.
4. In some cases, if the child is requiring one on one attention exceeding 30+ mins, you will be asked to pick your child up promptly.
IMPORTANT: Certain behaviors are never tolerated and require immediate action such as violent language or acts, grossly inappropriate language or acts, and any behavior that we believe may endanger the child, other children, or staff members, either physically or emotionally.
Bullying and Teasing – There may be times when the staff is unaware that this type of behavior is going on. If your child feels bullied and you believe that our staff either does not know about it or is not addressing it appropriately, please call the Coordinator.
Withdrawal from Program Policy:
The Monona Parks & Recreation office requires a 15 day notice of cancellation in writing (e-mail, typed, or handwritten) stating their last day of attendance. The cancellation notice is required to stop automated payments. If the cancellation falls on or after the 15th of the month, you will be charged for the entire portion of that month and the remainder of the future payments will be cancelled after the fact. If you are canceling before the program has started, you will not be refunded the registration fee/deposit ($25), but your auto-payment plan will be cancelled.
Inclement Weather Policy:
If Monona Grove School District cancels school for the day or releases school early after school club will be cancelled.
