Monona Farmers' Market

Sunday, July 15, 2018

If you are looking for happiness, head to the Monona Farmers Market on Sunday, July 15.

MAUI, the Madison Area Ukulele Initiative, will lift your spirits and put a smile on your face.  You may even feel like singing.   This thriving group of ukulele players promotes the instrument and its potential for the music community.  In 2008, a couple people looking to find others to strum and sing with reached out to people in the Madison area.  A core group of ukulele players emerged and formed the Madison Area Ukulele Initiative.  Over time, the group has grown to about 900 players.  Some of those MAUI ukulele players will share a playlist of tunes for you to enjoy.

In addition to heartwarming sounds and a great selection of summer produce the market is bursting with color.  Flower vendors May’s Garden, Natalie’s Garden and Greenhouse, Nehmer’s Produce and Greenhouse and Sue Vang Farm have stunning arrangements of fresh cut flowers, hanging baskets and flowering plants.  If you are planning a special event, ask the vendors about preordering arrangements of seasonal blooms.
The Master Gardeners, trained volunteers in the science and art of gardening, will be at the market.  Stop by for landscaping and gardening advice, how to deal with summer pests, learn about edible gardens and composting.  The Master Gardeners are at the market the first and third Sunday each month through September.

If you are biking to the market you’ll find bike racks at Ahuska Park near the playground and Veterans Memorial.

EBT is accepted.  The Double Dollars Program is available. The market, located at Ahuska Park, 400 East Broadway, is open every Sunday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm through October 28th.
