Monona Farmers' Market

Sunday, September 16, 2018

It’s that comfort food time of year and the market is chock full of all that you need for your favorite fall recipes.

You’ll find tomatoes, green beans, onions, root vegetables, potatoes, eggplant, Brussels sprouts, squash, pumpkins, apples, applesauce and cider, and colorful fall flowers.  It’s the perfect time for canning and making soups, stews, pies and crisps.

Monona Mayor Mary O’Connor and Tanya Buckingham, Dane County Board of Supervisors will keep office hours at the market from 9:00 to 11:00.  Stop by their table to chat about what’s happening in both the city and county.

Josh Cohen, composer and bassist from Toronto, Canada, is this week’s entertainer. He plays jazz, funk, pop, and classical.  Cohen strives to connect his musical inspiration with the inspiration one can receive from exploring nature.

The Master Gardeners are an important part of the Monona Farmers’ Market. These volunteers are trained through the University of Wisconsin-Extension to help educate the public about gardening, protecting natural resources and keeping fresh fruits and vegetables on the table year round.  They will wrap up their season of volunteering on Sunday.  This is your last opportunity for expert advice on fall yard and garden work, how to can and preserve the season’s produce and to just say thanks.

EBT is accepted.  The Double Dollars Program is available.

The market, located at Ahuska Park, 400 East Broadway, is open every Sunday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm through October 28th.
