Bridge Road Reconstruction is Underway

The reconstruction of Bridge Road began on July 8.  Bridge Road is being reconstructed from the intersection at Winnequah Road to the intersection of West Broadway Avenue.  This construction will result in new decking on the Yahara River Bridge, new sidewalks along Bridge Road, redesign of the Winnequah Road/Bridge Road intersection to include a 4-way stop, and pedestrian and bike improvements.

Traffic impacts:

  • Only southbound/westbound traffic on Bridge Road is allowed across the Yahara River Bridge and is then detoured through the new Riverfront development, along Inland Way (formerly Metropolitan Lane) to Broadway.
  • Any traffic trying to head north on Bridge Road from Broadway must redirect east on Broadway to either Falcon Circle or Monona Drive.
  • Pedestrian and bicycle access will be maintained over the bridge (so that use of the City of Madison/Lake Loop Bike Path can continue) but not between the bridge and Broadway.

All work is scheduled to be completed between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. each day. The project is anticipated to be completed in late November. Questions can be directed to City Hall at (608) 222-2525.
