Monona Wetland Conservancy

Image Unavailable
This is Monona’s largest but least known park. The Kaukauna-Gisholt Machine Company donated a 200-acre wetland area, extending from West Broadway to the city limits and east to the widespread area of the Yahara River, to the City of Monona in the early 1970s.

Currently undeveloped, long-range plans call for a trail system that will link up with the Capitol City Trail and the Dane County and State Rural Bike System, and the establishment of walking, hiking and cross-country ski trails. Gilligan’s Island, a sandbar where boaters gather to party, is located within the park’s boundaries.
