Libraries are currently authorized to schedule curbside pickup for patrons seeking library materials while the library building remains closed to the public. Monona Library is taking requests for curbside services through this form or by calling 608-222-6127. The library is not staffed full time; please be patient as we respond to your requests. If you have any questions about a request you submitted, please email Circulation Supervisor Amelia at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will be allowing a maximum of 20 items per patron per pickup, in order to serve all our patrons and keep this process manageable. After we have located your materials and checked them out to you, we will contact you about when you can come and pick them up from the “u” driveway on the lower level of the library, in the parking lot off of Healy Lane. Please do not come to the library until you are contacted about your pick-up window.
If you receive a notice from LINKcat that hold items are available for you, please fill out the curbside pickup form or call the library at 608-222-6127 to schedule a pickup.
MATERIALS FROM OTHER LIBRARIES: The inter-library delivery system is not currently operating, so the only items that will be available for you to pick up are those items currently sitting on the hold shelf from before our closure or those items currently sitting on Monona Library shelves. If you are comfortable placing your own holds in the online catalog, please check to ensure that Monona Library owns a copy. To see how to do this, watch the video below!
HELP PLACING HOLDS: For patrons unfamiliar with the holds process, and how to place your own holds on Monona Library items in LINKcat, please indicate as such in our curbside pickup form or in your message when you call the library. We will do our best with any information you can give us about what you are looking for to find adequate materials in the library to fulfill your requests.
CALLING THE LIBRARY: The library is only partially staffed, so phone calls may take some time to respond to. If you leave us a voice message, please indicate your full name, library card number, and what types of materials you are looking to find.
RETURNS: The library is currently only opening the outdoor dropbox to accept returns on Wednesdays from 12:00 - 6:00 PM. Please observe appropriate social distancing at the book drop. This time frame is subject to change. All items’ due dates have been extended until July 1, so returning items is entirely optional.
As always, we want to thank our patrons for their patience and flexibility as we navigate an entirely new process. Please do not hesitate to contact us through our website, via phone at (608) 222-6127, or through Facebook. We will do our best to respond to you in a timely manner. We are taking every precaution we can to minimize the chance of illness, including limiting the number of staff in the building and handling items and following the CDC guidelines for hand washing. Your safety and the safety of our staff is of the utmost importance throughout this process.
Below is a video guiding you through how you can check to ensure that an item in our online catalog is "Available at Monona Library."
