The City has contracted with a new provider -- Pellitteri Waste Systems -- for trash and recycling collection beginning in January 2024. While more detailed information will be coming in the near future, here's what residents can expect from the City's contract with Pellitteri:
Keep your current carts
Since the current carts are owned by the City, residents will continue to use their current carts.
New collection day - Friday
Trash will be collected from all City residences on FRIDAY of each week. If there is a holiday during the collection week, collection will move to Saturday. For instance, Monona's first Pellitteri collection in 2024 will be on Saturday, Jan. 6 because Monday, Jan. 1 is New Years' Day, so collections all week will be delayed by one day.
Collection of extra garbage and recycling that doesn't fit in your carts can be coordinated with Pellitteri for a small additional fee.
Bulk items (appliances, mattresses, etc.) will be collected each week for a fee. Residents will coordinate directly with Pellitteri for this service.
Local service center
Pellitteri is a local Monona company with a local service center staffed by real people! So if your collection is missed, residents will be able to call Pellitteri directly and speak with a representative. Also, Pellitteri's trucks are equipped with GPS maps and cameras so collection problems can be solved quickly.
Dedicated webpage for Monona
Pellitteri will have a page on its website dedicated to its Monona customers. This page will include detailed information about Monona's service, educational videos, lists of what is and isn't accepted, etc. You can view Monona's page at https://www.pellitteri.com/pages/city-of-monona.
