  • Tax Increment Financing (TIF): Monona has a long history of responsible use of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) to facilitate the redevelopment of vacant or underutilized commercial sites and to fund public improvements in the TIF districts.  Monona currently has six operating TIF districts focused on redevelopment efforts along Monona Drive and Broadway.
  • Renew Monona: This is a loan program funded by TIF revenues.  Renew Monona provides zero percent interest loans of up to $10,000 for home improvements.
  • Facade Improvement Grant Program: The City's Facade Improvement Program was established to enhance the visual aesthetics of the Monona Drive corridor by offering grant funding to building owners to improve their building frontage on Monona Drive.  Successful grant recipients receive a 50% reimbursement of eligible project costs not to exceed $10,000.
